Look, we think you should read books by trans authors all year round, but we love a good reason to come together and celebrate these stories. Join us in promoting trans, nonbinary, 2Spirit, and gender-nonconforming authors and characters by participating in the 2025 Trans Rights Read-a-thon.

We read a lot of fantasy books around here at Underbrush and the best (or sometimes worst) part about the book industry is there is always something new to read. Well, we've combed through 100s of pages of fantasy book announcements and come up with a concise list of 10 that we're going to go absolutely feral for this spring.

Each year we’re gifted an impossibly long list of new horror books to add to our TBRs. We wanted to do our own and highlight what we’re personally excited for. Some of the titles on this list are most assuredly on every other list, while others, we hope, will be lovely little surprises for you to add to your TBR. 

We are always aware that our own personal preferences have some blind spots for some folks, so we decided to call in backup. It's funny to compare our personal reading tastes to those of the women who raised us all to be readers.

We're not going to lie, when it comes to book recommendations, we definitely play favorites. Here are some of our staff's favorite books to recommend to readers.
